Nerd test

I saw Sephrenias post about a Nerd test so I had to take it! :)

Here's my result below. I agree with it, I work as a developer and I like comics/super heroes and sci-fi/fantasy and I'm not very good at really advanced math. I like languages and at least used to read a lot before WoW. I'm not awkward or socially inept, it's more that I'm not uncomfortable being on my own. Uber Cool Nerd King is it? Haha!

NerdTests.com says I'm an Uber Cool Nerd King. Click here to take the Nerd Test, get nerdy images and jokes, and talk to others on the nerd forum!

Speaking of tests there's actually a more serious personality test I'd like to recommend based on Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. It's quite a serious test, a lot of companies here in Sweden use this type of test on new employees. I guess management likes to have a grasp of possible group dynamics and future career paths. A very brief description is that to describe a personality, you can use four categories with two opposite characteristics within each category and a person is usually more drawn to one characteristic than the other. As you answer questions on a scale you are drawn towards one side. I'm sure you are already aware if you are an extroverted or introverted person but that's just the first of four categories. In total this system generates 16 base personality types and because the types are somewhat typical the relations between the types are also typical which means you can sort of predict what two types think of each other, at least as a likely initial impression.

You can take this test to find out what type you are. Go ahead, it doesn't take long and it's very interesting! This one is free but there are paid ones and I'm sure there are other free ones as well.

My result is INTJ.
To briefly quote Wikipedia:
I – Introversion preferred to Extraversion: INTJs tend to be quiet and reserved. They generally prefer interacting with a few close friends rather than a wide circle of acquaintances, and they expend energy in social situations (whereas extraverts gain energy).
N – iNtuition preferred to Sensing: INTJs tend to be more abstract than concrete. They focus their attention on the big picture rather than the details, and on future possibilities rather than immediate realities.
T – Thinking preferred to Feeling: INTJs tend to value objective criteria above personal preference. When making decisions, they generally give more weight to logic than to social considerations.
J – Judgment preferred to Perception: INTJs tend to plan their activities and make decisions early. They derive a sense of control through predictability, which to perceptive types may seem limiting.

I've also found a this site with more in-depth analysis of the different types, mine is here. It even has sections for relationships and careers for the different types which I think is fun to read.

If you read this, I hope you took the test and enjoyed reading about your type.

I got Cool Non-Nerd but like crashed and burned in the socially awkward category. What does that even mean?!?!?

I should probably retake a Myer's Briggs Test. I haven't taken one since high school and I can't remember what I was... I think I was ENTJ

Congratulations! :)

I can't tell if there are any questions measuring dorkiness or awkwardness really. Could it be that you get points in that category if you answer incorrectly instead of saying "Not sure" or "I don't know"?

I thought about going back through and not answering "huh?" to any of the questions ans seeing what happens.

Glad you liked the test :D

I was a Light-Weight Nerd, which I feel is fairly accurate. I did a MB once - I think I was ISTP, but it was a long time ago at the start of my career and 2 kids and stuff later may have changed things a little.

My company here in the states uses Myers-Briggs as well (well, they're an EU company tho).

I'm also an INTJ and it does show. I'm a chemist in my company's research division. I've been told I think a lot! haha

I posted this test to our guild forum and it was great to see what all the guild members got as results =)

We had one guy who got Uber Cool Nerd God, he had almost 100% in all categories! :D

I know what you mean Sephrenia, I got INTP a few years ago but life will change you ;)

@Barrista
We do think a lot, don't we? ;)
